our Story
The SAF Consulting Group was founded by Chip Bates, a strategist and leader known for combining big-picture vision with roll-up-your-sleeves execution. Chip’s career has been shaped by people who taught him the value of storytelling, encouraged him to chase big goals, and reminded him that work should have a little joy in it.
The name SAF is a tribute to them:
- S is for Simon Poulter. A mentor and friend who showed Chip the magic of a story well told - and the impact it can have when done right.
- A is for Alison Bates. Chip’s wife, sounding board, and biggest believer, whose perspective helped turn an idea into a business.
- F is for Fenway the Dog. Loyal, joyful, and full of energy - everything a great teammate should be.
